چکیده

PurposeTo review the published literature assessing efficacy and safety of presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses (IOLs) for treatment presbyopia after cataract removal.MethodsLiterature searches were undertaken in January 2018 September 2020 PubMed, Medline, Cochrane Library databases. This yielded 761 articles, which 34 met criteria inclusion this assessment assigned a level evidence rating by panel methodologist. Thirteen studies rated I 21 II.ResultsPresbyopia-correcting effective at improving distance near visual acuity surgery. Near different focal lengths was related directly to add power multifocal extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) IOLs. Most EDOF that compared with control monofocal lens demonstrated patient-reported spectacle independence superior lens. All patients who had implanted showed decreased contrast sensitivity reported more phenomena as participants received lenses.ConclusionsPresbyopia-correcting improve uncorrected decrease dependence Mesopic is lenses, are likely receiving or lenses. Multifocal Intraocular Lenses for the Treatment of Presbyopia: Benefits and Side-effects

Accommodation is the ability of the eye to create a sharp image on the retina of objects viewed, regardless of their distance to the observer. Eyes from younger subjects, when corrected for refractive error, are able to adapt the optical power to such an extent that objects at near point up to infinity are seen as sharp images. Von Helmholtz pioneered the theory that accommodation is the result...

Comparison of diffractive and refractive multifocal intraocular lenses in presbyopia treatment.

Multifocal intraocular lenses (MFIOL) enable good near and far vision after cataract surgery. Excellent results with cataract patients encouraged ophthalmologists to implant MFIOL after clear lens extraction (CLE). There are two types of MFIOL: diffractive and refractive. In our prospective study we compared clinical outcomes after CLE and bilateral implantation of diffractive (Tecnis Multifoca...

Multifocal Intraocular Lenses

To the Editor: I commend Munoz et al on their well-designed and well-conducted study on the clinical effect of a combination of multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOL) including the newest rotationally asymmetric MIOL, which appeared in the March 2012 issue of the Journal of Refractive Surgery.1 They found that contrast sensitivity was comparable to that achievable with a monofocal implant and, re...

This article reviews clinical and optical data for three unique lens designs: the ReSTOR diffractive intraocular lens (IOL), the Vision Membrane, and the ReZOOM refractive multifocal IOL.

Bi- and Multifocal Intraocular Lenses

The present paper presents a review of multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) focusing on the optical principle used to create multifocality: refraction and diffraction. The principal optics of the different IOL designs in the market were discussed and compared. The main conclusion of this study states that diffractive bifocal optics seems to be superior to refractive designs which is well-substa...
